SL600 GNSS

Survey Receiver Now Available

Satlab Geosolutions initially announced its completely new and innovative SL600 several months ago as the planned replacement of its popular SL500 on the pole GNSS surveying receiver.

SatLab Geosolutions initially announced its completely new and innovative SL600 several months ago as the planned replacement of its popular SL500  on the pole GNSS surveying receiver. After a full summer of testing and a premier showing at Intergeo Berlin in October, SatLab has stated that the units are now available for shipment to its dealers and customers.

SL600 GNSS receiverThis new receiver is designed to meet the evolving needs of the surveying market and is a solution for general land, marine and construction applications. At the heart of this rugged unit is an industry leading 6G GNSS receiver capable of utilising all 6 GNSS satellite networks (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and SBAS) providing reliable operation in the most demanding conditions.

Recent testing has shown that the environmental packaging of the units is notable. Resistant to 3-metre drops and 2 metres of water submersion, the Xenoy housing holds up well to real-world use. Further, the dual hot swappable batteries provide 18-24 hours of continuous field use, depending on the mode of operation. All this in a lightweight 1.2kg package.

SatLab SL600 receiver has a new onboard computer running LINUX operating system, which ensures easy implementation of new functionalities often a result of customer specific requirements. Over time, over the air firmware updates will be automatically available, adding new features at no additional charge. Users will be notified by the unit to accept the new firmware updates, or refuse them if they wish to keep their units as is.

The system is available with different communication capabilities. Cellular 3G and Bluetooth as well USB and RS232 connectivity are all standard, and an optional internal 2W Pacific Crest XDL radio is also available. Voice notifications are also a convenient feature, notifying the user of issues without the need to watch the status LEDs.

GIS data collection

The SL600 system kit includes a compact hard carrying case with the well-proven SL55 field controller. This controller can handle large data files with its high-speed processor and expandable memory. Furthermore, the SL55 has onboard GPS/GLONASS L1 receiver as well as GSM modem, which makes this unit a good and rugged companion to use in GIS data collection applications.

As part of the close cooperation between Carlson Software and SatLab Geosolutions, the SL600 comes with Carlson SurvCE pre-installed and activated. This ensures a working and easy to get started 'out of the box' experience for the end customer.
